Birds & environment
Bird surveys and environmental monitoring with traceable methodology
Bird surveys, environmental monitoring, species identification and bird data that stands up to review – with methods matched to the question and the area.
Approach
From method selection to delivered data
Every assignment starts with the question: which species and functions are relevant, what time of year the survey needs to take place, and which method produces data that holds up to review. The methodology follows established standards for breeding bird surveys, territory mapping and transect counts.
Field data is structured, quality assured and analysed, then delivered with maps and a description of method, conditions and uncertainties. Where useful, the material is complemented with photographic documentation of species, habitats and project areas.

Platforms
Land, boat and aircraft
Surveys are carried out from land, from boat and from aircraft, using both visual methods and digital aerial surveys. I also have experience with radar-based migration studies, relevant for assessing flight corridors and collision risk at wind farms.
Do you need bird data for an environmental assessment?
I can be engaged for a defined survey, as a reviewing bird expert, or as a specialist resource throughout the project.
